Ford Mustang Expert 2025 The Upcoming Car In US

Ford Mustang Expert 2025 Review

The days of the American pony automobile are far from ended. With new engines, updated appearance, and cutting-edge technology, the seventh-generation Ford Mustang made its debut in 2024. The track-ready GTD variant, a high-performance model created for GT3 racing homologation, is a 2025 addition to the Mustang lineup. Although the Mustang's rivals are few, they include two-door gasoline-powered sports cars like the Nissan Z and Toyota GR Supra. Not to be overlooked is the Dodge Charger's comeback.

New Features

The 2025 Mustang is largely unchanged from the previous year, with the exception of the new GTD version. All models in the lineup now come equipped with dual-zone temperature control, and the Mustang GT now comes with a free automatic transmission. However, Ford has raised the cost of the GT and Dark Horse versions, and the 2.3L High Performance package that was formerly an option for EcoBoost cars is no longer available.

The latest S650-code model, a pony car for the contemporary day, debuted in 2024 with new style and a significantly altered version of the S550-code Mustang base from the previous generation. During our testing, we discovered that the 2024 Mustang had outstanding handling throughout the range. The Dark Horse's naturally aspirated V-8 engine and the EcoBoost's turbocharged four-cylinder engine both produce incredible power. The Mustang would be a perfect driver's car if the 10-speed automatic transmission wasn't programmed with such erratic settings. For V-8 versions, Ford still allows you to swap gears yourself with a six-speed manual transmission. Although the lack of firmness in the chassis was disappointing, we most appreciated the Mustang GT Convertible's booming exhaust sounds behind the wheel.

Performance

Ford adds a supercharged 5.2-liter V-8 to the GTD's lineup of high-performance equipment while maintaining the 2024 Mustang's powertrain options for 2025. Models with EcoBoost, GT, and Dark Horse come standard with a 10-speed transmission. For the GT and Dark Horse, Ford introduces a six-speed manual gearbox. Lastly, an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transaxle is planned for the GTD.

Ford Mustang GT 2025

The vehicle has a RWD drivetrain, a 5.0-liter V-8 engine, and a horsepower/torque of 486 hp/418 lb-ft, with an efficiency of 14-15/23-24 mpg*.

Ford Mustang Eco Boost 2025

The vehicle features a 2.3-liter turbocharged inline-four engine, RWD drivetrain, and 315 hp/350 lb-ft of torque, with an efficiency of 21-22/29-33 mpg* and 4.9 seconds of acceleration.

Ford Mustang GTD 2025

The vehicle features a RWD drivetrain, a 5.2-liter supercharged V-8 engine, and a maximum horsepower of 800 hp/650 lb-ft, with a 3.0 second acceleration time.

Ford Mustang Dark Horse 2025

The vehicle has a RWD drivetrain, a 5.0-liter V-8 engine, and a horsepower/torque of 500 hp/418 lb-ft, with an efficiency of 14/22 mpg* and a 3.7-4.1 second acceleration time.

The strongest pony won't be sporting a Shelby badge this time. Rather, the 2025 Ford Mustang GTD is the recipient of that distinction. The GTD takes the S650 platform to the next level and is based on the Mustang GT3 race car. A 5.2-liter supercharged V-8 engine that produces over 800 horsepower provides motivation, and we anticipate that the torque will surpass the 625 lb-ft of torque produced by the GT500's predecessor. Additional improvements include pushrod rear suspension, four-corner spool-valve suspension dampers with hydraulic actuation, and an eight-speed dual-clutch automated transaxle. The Mustang GTD is also outfitted by Ford with a full aero package, which includes a drag reduction system similar to those found in Formula 1 race cars.

Safety Ratings

The 2024 Mustang did well in the limited parameters that IIHS examined. Top ratings were given to the coupe and convertible. Both the front and side tests with moderate overlap received good marks. With a second-from-best result of Acceptable, the coupe's small overlap front driver-side test wasn't quite as good. With the second-from-worst score of Marginal, LATCH ease of use for kid restraints was the 2024 model's worst-performing area. It is anticipated that the 2025 Mustang would be equipped with the same active safety features as the previous model year. Adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assistance, reverse automated emergency braking, and traffic sign recognition are all included in the Ford Co-Pilot360 suite.

Technology

A 13.2-inch infotainment touchscreen with voice commands and navigation is standard on all Ford Mustang variants. All models also come with a 12.4-inch digital instrument cluster with unique features including a setting that mimics the dashboard of the Fox Body Mustang. Additional technology includes LED headlights, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, ambient inside lighting, overhead USB outlets for coupes, and animated exterior welcome lighting. A six-speaker system is included as standard, while all convertibles and higher trim levels have a nine-speaker system. You can get a 12-speaker setup from B&O on the majority of Mustang variants.

Everybody has a different preference because there are so many options to customize the Ford Mustang. With costs ranging from about $33,500 for the least costly EcoBoost model to over $70,000 for fully loaded top trim variations, trim options include EcoBoost, GT, and Dark Horse. Dark Horse Premium models have increased in price by $3,645, and Dark Horse models are now $2,645 more expensive than they were the previous year.

Reduced Cost $31,920 for an EcoBoost Coupe $37,545 for an EcoBoost Premium Coupe $40,120 for the EcoBoost Convertible $43,045 GT Coupe EcoBoost Premium Convertible $46,560 GT GT Premium Convertible $56,580 Premium Coupe $51,080 $63,080 for the Dark Horse Coupe.

Overall Rating 8/10.
