To address her credit card debt, a US realtor from Delaware turned to ChatGPT as her financial advisor. She reportedly saved almost $600 a month and discovered over $10,000 in unclaimed funds thanks to the AI chatbot. She attributed her debt repayment to ChatGPT's steady assistance.

According to reports, an American woman paid off her credit card debt by using ChatGPT as her financial advisor. The AI chatbot helped Jennifer Allan, a content creator and realtor in Delaware, the United States, pay off her $23,000 debt.

That she "struggled with money her whole adult life" is what the 35-year-old told Newsweek.

For a month, ChatGPT provided Allan with daily tasks and advice to increase her income and reduce her expenses.

I was never taught financial literacy, not because I don't earn enough. Budgeting was something I avoided because I believed that I could solve the issue if I simply continued to put in more effort. She was quoted by the US-based weekly news magazine as saying, "That worked... until it didn't."

After the birth of her daughter, everything started to go wrong. "I used credit cards to keep our lives afloat after I emotionally shut down. Our lifestyle wasn't extravagant. We were just surviving. However, the debt accrued during my absence," she told Newsweek.

According to the report, she was motivated by online 30-day challenges and made the decision to use ChatGPT daily for a month in order to pay off the debt, whether that meant coming up with ideas for side projects or simply organizing her spending.

According to the report, Allan made over $100 every day after the AI bot assigned her a single money-saving or money-earning task, such as canceling a subscription, selling items on Facebook Marketplace, looking for unclaimed money, or searching through bags and couches for spare change.

Finding over $10,000 in unclaimed or forgotten funds was one of the challenge's major discoveries.

Allan posted a video to her TikTok account in June, stating that she had reached day 30 of her challenge and had paid off $12,078.93 (roughly Rs 10.08 lakh) in the previous month.

She also reportedly saved $600 a month thanks to ChatGPT.

Allan remained motivated thanks to the consistent support of Chatt and TikTok.
Allan credited ChatGPT's consistent encouragement for her drive.

According to Allan, "It wasn't some big financial hack," Newsweek reported. "It was the act of facing it every day"—that is, monitoring, discussing, and examining it daily. I no longer feared my numbers.

I created a debt monitoring tool. I began to openly share my journey. And I didn't feel embarrassed for the first time in my life. She continued, "I felt empowered, like I could overcome anything."

"For me, using AI gave me a sense of structure without judgment, and TikTok allowed me to hold myself accountable because the community I had built was showing up every day waiting for the next task," she said, advising making the process fun.
